Printing technology: Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) or Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) 

In fused deposition modelling (FDM) or fused filament fabrication (FFF), wire-shaped plastic is melted through a nozzle and applied layer by layer. This is what characterises this technology:

  • The material colour can be selected via post-processing. 
  • Minimum wall thickness: 1.2 mm. 
  • Lettering and surface details: min. 0.8 mm. 
  • Minimum diameter of drill holes: 2 mm. 
  • The parts are not printed full in the FDM process, but with a filling geometry. The infill density is 15-20%. Printing is carried out with a wall thickness of 0.8 mm.
  • In this process, support structures are used for overhangs. The underlying surface has a lower quality than the other surfaces.
  • Components are aligned to optimise the installation space.
